What should you know about cryotherapy recovery chambers?

Short answer
A cryotherapy recovery chamber provides a brief, supervised cold-air session that may ease muscle soreness, but it is not suitable for everyone.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How the chamber works
The chamber rapidly cools the skin surface while you remain in a controlled environment. Cold causes blood vessels near the skin to narrow temporarily, and the body responds by adjusting blood flow and sensation. People may use this technology after exercise or alongside a broader recovery plan. It does not repair a torn tendon, heal a fracture, or diagnose the cause of pain. Learn more about the equipment in the Cryotherapy Chamber guide.
Tell the clinician about cold sensitivity, circulation problems, heart or blood-pressure conditions, pregnancy, reduced skin sensation, or medicines that affect circulation. These details can change whether the session is appropriate.
Preparing for a session
Follow the facility’s clothing and safety instructions, keep skin dry, and remove jewellery or items the clinician identifies. Do not enter with wet clothing or with an area of broken, irritated, or numb skin. During the session, report burning, severe pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, confusion, or unusual numbness immediately. Warm up gradually afterward rather than applying intense heat directly to numb skin.
When to get medical help
Stop the session and seek prompt medical advice for blistering, persistent colour change, worsening pain, loss of sensation, fainting, chest discomfort, or breathing difficulty. Emergency help is appropriate for severe breathing trouble, collapse, or chest pain. A recovery chamber should not delay assessment of an injury, infection, or ongoing swelling.
Questions to ask
Ask what goal the session is meant to support, whether your medical history changes the risk, how long you should wait before exercising, and which symptoms mean you should stop.

Questions people ask
Can a cryotherapy chamber treat an injury?
It may be used for comfort after activity, but it does not replace assessment or treatment for a fracture, tendon injury, or infection.
Is whole-body cryotherapy suitable for everyone?
No. Cold sensitivity, circulation concerns, reduced sensation, and some medical conditions may make it unsuitable; discuss these before booking.
