What should you know about cradle cap fix?

Cradle cap is infantile seborrheic dermatitis. It produces scale that may be dry, yellow, or slightly greasy, most often on the scalp and sometimes around the eyebrows, ears, or hairline. The goal is to reduce build-up without injuring the skin. Scraping, peeling, or repeated harsh washing can cause small breaks that allow irritation and infection. A baby who is comfortable and otherwise well may only need supportive care, while a more inflamed pattern can need a different diagnosis or treatment.

Wash the affected skin with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. Before washing, a plain emollient can be used to soften thick scale; massage very lightly and brush only flakes that release easily. Rinse away residue and pat the skin dry. Keep nails short and avoid picking. Do not use adult dandruff products, fragranced mixtures, essential oils, or medicated creams unless a clinician recommends them. If gentle care does not settle the rash, medical treatment may include a suitable emollient routine or topical antifungal treatment, selected for the baby’s age and affected site.

Have the baby assessed if the rash is painful, very red, swollen, cracked, bleeding, wet, or covered with crust, or if it spreads quickly. Seek prompt help when there is fever, poor feeding, unusual sleepiness, or a baby who seems generally unwell. Arrange a routine review if the scale persists, returns frequently, or appears in an unusual pattern so other causes can be considered.
