A Cosman radiofrequency generator is equipment used to create and control radiofrequency energy during procedures such as radiofrequency ablation. The device supports the clinician; it does not diagnose the source of pain or decide whether treatment is suitable.

During a procedure, a clinician places a specialised needle near a selected nerve or tissue using appropriate guidance. The generator can provide energy and help the team control the planned treatment settings. The aim may be to change pain signalling from a carefully selected area, often after diagnostic assessment.
