CoolSculpting for the jawline: what to know

A clinician first checks whether fullness under the chin is caused by pinchable fat, loose skin, muscle position, swelling or another neck concern. A cooling applicator is placed over a selected area when the anatomy is suitable. The aim is contouring of local fat, not weight loss and not reshaping the jawbone.

Cold, pulling, pressure, temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or numbness can occur. The lower face and neck are sensitive areas, so the exact applicator position and protection of nearby structures matter. A gradual contour change is assessed after the early reaction has settled.

Before treatment, disclose cold sensitivity, circulation disorders, nerve symptoms, a neck or chin procedure, medicines that affect bleeding, and any unexplained lump or swelling. Ask the clinician to mark the planned area and explain whether skin laxity could limit the visible result.

Keep the follow-up plan and use only the aftercare recommended for your skin. Do not press, massage or apply products to the area unless the treating team says they are suitable. A review is useful if the contour is uneven or the sensation remains troubling.

Contact the clinic if swelling is rapidly increasing, pain is severe, the skin blisters or changes color markedly, or numbness is persistent and worrying. Seek prompt assessment for difficulty swallowing or breathing, facial weakness, fever, pus or spreading redness. Any new or growing neck lump should be assessed rather than attributed to the treatment.
