What conventional audiometry involves

During conventional audiometry, you usually sit in a quiet booth or room and respond whenever you hear a tone, even if it is very soft. The tones vary in pitch and loudness so the audiologist can compare hearing across frequencies. Speech may also be tested to show how clearly you understand spoken words. The result helps distinguish patterns involving the outer or middle ear from patterns involving the inner ear or hearing nerve.
