Continuous sneezing and a runny nose

Allergic rhinitis often produces clear, watery discharge with repeated sneezing, nasal itching, congestion, or watery eyes. A common cold may add a sore throat, cough, tiredness, or a changing nasal discharge. Influenza and COVID-19 can cause broader illness such as fever, aches, cough, or unusual fatigue, so consider the whole picture and local testing guidance. Sinusitis may be associated with facial pressure, blocked drainage, or symptoms that persist rather than quickly easing.

House dust mite allergy and pet allergy are useful possibilities when symptoms follow bedroom dust, cleaning, or animal contact. A runny nose by itself does not identify a condition. Timing, exposure, fever, pain, and how well you feel provide more helpful clues.

Drink fluids, rest if you feel unwell, and use tissues gently to protect the skin around the nostrils. Reduce smoke, perfume, and dust exposure. Wash hands regularly and avoid close contact with vulnerable people while an infection is possible. Saline spray may ease nasal irritation. Ask a pharmacist or clinician which treatment fits your symptoms and existing medicines.

Get medical advice if symptoms are severe, keep returning, last longer than expected, or occur with facial pain, high fever, dehydration, or worsening cough. Seek urgent care for difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, blue lips, or sudden swelling of the face or throat.
