Cold Feet and Sweaty Armpits

The soles and armpits contain many sweat glands and can respond to heat, activity, anxiety, or the body's automatic nerve signals. Sweat evaporating from the feet can create a chilly sensation, while underarm moisture remains noticeable because clothing limits evaporation. This pattern can occur with excessive sweating, without meaning that the feet and armpits have the same local problem. Irritated or peeling foot skin may instead suggest Athlete's Foot. A clinician will consider when symptoms began, whether they occur during sleep, and whether medicines or an illness could be contributing.

Keep feet dry with absorbent, breathable socks and shoes that can air between uses. Dry thoroughly after washing, especially between the toes. For armpits, apply deodorant or antiperspirant to clean, dry skin and avoid using fragranced products on irritated skin. If symptoms affect daily life, ask about a Prescription Antiperspirant. Iontophoresis may be considered for sweaty soles, while underarm treatment may follow a different plan. A symptom diary can show links with heat, stress, exercise, and particular products.
