Can coffee cause indigestion?

Indigestion can include upper-abdominal discomfort, early fullness, belching, nausea or burning. Coffee may increase stomach activity or feel irritating when taken on an empty stomach. A rich meal, alcohol, smoking and some pain medicines can also contribute.
