What is cholera-like diarrhoea?

The phrase describes a pattern, not a confirmed diagnosis. Cholera can cause sudden, painless, very watery stools because Vibrio cholerae alters fluid movement in the intestine. Other causes of acute diarrhoea may produce watery stool too, so the symptom by itself cannot identify the organism. Recent travel, unsafe water or food exposure, contact with an affected person, vomiting, and the amount of urine can help a clinician judge the situation.
