Can chikungunya be cured?

The immune system clears the infection, while treatment focuses on easing fever, pain and dehydration. Many people improve as the acute illness settles, but joint pain and stiffness can last longer and may fluctuate. Symptoms such as fever, joint pain and muscle aches are not unique to chikungunya, so a diagnosis should take account of examination, exposure and other possible infections.
