Is chikungunya a communicable disease?

A mosquito becomes infected after biting a person who has virus in their blood, then may pass it on through a later bite. Ordinary casual contact, such as sitting beside someone, is not the usual route. Chikungunya itself commonly presents with fever, joint pain, muscle aches, tiredness and sometimes rash.
