A lung lobule is a small unit of lung tissue. Centrilobular describes a position within that unit, while nodules describes small focal spots. The report may also describe whether they are solid, hazy, branching, widespread, or associated with airway thickening. Those details can point clinicians toward different explanations, such as irritation, infection, inflammation, or inhaled material. This wording is not the same as a diagnosis of cancer, and it should be read alongside the entire report rather than one isolated phrase.

Ask the clinician who ordered the scan to explain the complete impression and recommended follow-up. Share recent respiratory infections, cough, fever, breathlessness, allergies, smoking or vaping, occupational exposures, travel, and relevant medicines. If an older scan exists, comparison may help show whether the nodules are longstanding or changing. Take medicines only as prescribed; a scan description does not by itself establish a need for antibiotics, steroids, or another treatment.
