What should you know about cellulite in bum?

The buttocks contain fat compartments separated by connective tissue. Where bands pull downward and the surface above them moves outward, dimples or ripples can appear. The pattern may change with posture, muscle contraction, skin elasticity and body changes. It can affect people with different body shapes and fitness levels. It is not the same as an inflamed infection, and a separate lump should not be assumed to be cellulite without an examination.

Your clinician may examine the area while standing and lying down to see whether laxity or individual tethered dimples dominate. Subcision can release selected bands. Radiofrequency Skin Tightening may target a looser-looking surface, and RF Microneedling may be discussed when texture and firmness overlap. Carboxytherapy is another procedure used in selected plans. Review allergies, medicines, pregnancy status, past scarring and any recent injections before treatment. Gentle activity can support muscle tone and function, but it does not directly undo every dimple.

Book a medical assessment for a new firm lump, one-sided swelling, persistent pain, warmth, redness, drainage or rapid enlargement. Fever, severe pain, spreading redness or feeling unwell needs urgent attention. Delay cosmetic treatment until the cause of a changing area is clear.
