What should you know about carbon peeling?

After cleansing, a carbon lotion is applied to the target area. Once it has dried or settled, the clinician passes laser energy over the skin. The energy interacts with the carbon, helping to fragment and remove oil and surface residue. Heat may also stimulate a temporary tightening sensation and a more polished appearance. Carbon peeling is often chosen for facial oiliness, congestion, uneven surface tone, or a tired-looking complexion, but it cannot correct every cause of these concerns.

The skin may feel warm during the procedure and mildly pink or dry afterward. Suitability depends on the area, current skin health, recent sun exposure, medicines, and past reactions to procedures.

Before booking, disclose active acne flares, dermatitis, infection, recent tanning, cold sores, and any medicine that affects healing or sensitivity. Follow the clinic’s instructions about hair removal and strong skincare products. After the session, cleanse gently, moisturise, avoid deliberate sun exposure, and use the recommended sunscreen. Do not peel flakes or apply abrasive products. Arrange review if the response is not following the expected pattern.

Increasing pain, pronounced swelling, blistering, pus, or redness that spreads beyond the treated area warrants prompt contact with the clinic. Get urgent care for breathing difficulty, rapidly developing facial swelling, or eye pain and visual disturbance. Report lasting changes in skin colour or a sore that does not heal.
