Carbon Peel Face: What Should You Know?

A clinician applies a thin carbon-based lotion to clean, dry facial skin and allows it to settle. A Q-switched laser then targets the carbon, helping lift oil, loose surface cells, and debris as the carbon is removed. The process is designed for facial concerns such as a dull surface, enlarged-looking pores, uneven texture, or excess oil. It does not replace assessment of a new mole, changing mark, persistent rash, or unexplained pigmentation.

Before treatment, tell the clinician about recent tanning, active acne or cold sores, eczema, medicines that increase light sensitivity, and any previous reaction to laser or skincare products. Arrive with clean skin and follow the clinic’s instructions about products to pause. During treatment, you may notice warmth, snapping sensations, or temporary redness. Afterward, use gentle cleansing, moisturiser, and broad-spectrum sun protection. Avoid picking, harsh scrubs, and strong exfoliating products until the skin feels settled.

Mild warmth or redness can occur after facial laser treatment. Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain is increasing, blistering develops, swelling is marked, the skin becomes increasingly hot, or discharge appears. Seek urgent medical help for facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, or for eye pain or vision changes after treatment.

Ask which facial concerns the treatment is intended to address, whether your current skin condition makes it unsuitable, what laser settings and eye protection will be used, and which products should be paused. Clarify the expected recovery pattern, the plan if pigmentation darkens, and when ordinary skincare and makeup can be resumed.
