The clinician first examines the treatment area and cleanses it. A carbon lotion is then spread over the skin and allowed to settle. Laser passes heat the carbon so it can absorb oil and loosen surface material; further passes remove the remaining carbon. Arrive with clean skin if instructed, and avoid changing prescription products without medical advice.

Afterward, cleanse gently, moisturise as directed, and protect the area from sunlight. Avoid scrubbing, picking, hot treatments, and irritating skincare until the surface feels settled. A short-lived pink or tight feeling can occur, but your provider should explain what is expected for your skin and when you can resume normal products.
