What should you know about Calmoseptine for diaper rash?

Nappy rash is often driven by prolonged contact with urine or stool, friction, and a warm, damp environment. A barrier ointment can reduce contact between irritated skin and moisture. It will not treat every cause: yeast, bacterial infection, allergy, or another skin condition may need a different approach. Burning or worsening redness after application can signal irritation or sensitivity to an ingredient.

Gently rinse the area with lukewarm water or a mild cleanser, pat dry, and apply a thin protective layer according to the product directions. Change nappies promptly, allow short periods of air exposure when practical, and avoid scrubbing. Do not apply to eyes, inside the mouth, or deep open wounds. If the rash has small satellite spots, folds are involved, or it does not settle with barrier care, a clinician may recommend topical antifungal treatment instead. Emollient therapy may help when dryness is prominent.

Contact a clinician if the rash is spreading, blistered, bleeding, crusted, very painful, associated with fever, or not improving with careful nappy care. Seek urgent help if the child seems unusually sleepy, is difficult to comfort, or is drinking much less than usual. Babies with a new severe rash should be assessed promptly.
