What should you know about buttock lipofilling?

Fat is collected from a donor area, processed, and placed into planned layers in the buttocks. The result depends on available donor fat, skin elasticity, healing, and how the transferred cells behave after surgery. Swelling can make the early shape look different from the settled contour. Lipofilling is a surgical treatment, not the same as Dermal Fillers or Lip Fillers, which use injectable products rather than the patient's own fat.

During consultation, discuss the shape you want, donor sites, incision locations, anaesthesia, preparation, and the surgeon's safety technique. Share all medicines, nicotine use, allergies, and previous procedures. Recovery may require avoiding direct pressure on the buttocks, using a recommended position or cushion, wearing support garments, and increasing activity slowly. Keep follow-up appointments so wounds and contour can be assessed.

Get urgent help for sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting, severe weakness, or new confusion. Contact the surgical team for worsening rather than settling pain, increasing swelling on one side, fever, spreading redness, foul drainage, or an opening wound. These symptoms need assessment and should not be explained away as normal recovery.

Ask where fat will be taken, how pressure will be avoided during recovery, how scars are managed, what changes are realistic, and which symptoms require emergency attention.
