Bumpy Rash All Over the Body: What to Know

Small raised spots may occur with irritation or an allergic response, heat and sweating, or an inflammatory skin problem. Atopic Dermatitis often causes itchy, dry, inflamed patches. Contact Dermatitis can follow a new product, fabric, detergent, or plant exposure. A medicine can trigger Drug Rash, while Scabies may cause intense itching that is worse at night and can affect close contacts. Ringworm often forms scaly, expanding areas. These patterns overlap, so appearance alone cannot identify the cause.

Use lukewarm water, a gentle fragrance-free cleanser, and a plain moisturizer. Wear loose, breathable clothing and keep the skin cool and dry. Avoid scratching, harsh scrubs, new cosmetics, and any recently introduced product until the rash is assessed. Record when it began, where it started, recent medicines, exposures, travel, and whether anyone close to you is itchy. Do not share towels or clothing if an infectious cause is possible.

Seek urgent help for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or tongue, faintness, a rapidly spreading rash, severe skin pain, blistering, skin peeling, purple or bruise-like spots, or sores involving the eyes or mouth. Arrange a prompt medical assessment if fever, pus, warmth, or increasing tenderness develops, or if the rash persists or keeps spreading.
