Before and after facial mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is not one standard formula: the substances, injection depth, technique, and intended result can differ. Your consent discussion should identify exactly what will be injected and what improvement is reasonable for your concern.

Immediately afterward, small raised points, redness, tenderness, bruising, or mild swelling can reflect the needle punctures and local tissue response. These early effects can temporarily make the face look less even, so photographs taken at the same angle and lighting are more useful once the skin has settled.

A smoother or more hydrated appearance may be subtle and depends on the product and the original concern. Mesotherapy does not correct every cause of texture, pigmentation, laxity, or volume change, and a dramatic alteration should not be assumed from marketing images.

Tell the clinician about pregnancy or breastfeeding, previous reactions to injections, cold sores, active rashes, bleeding problems, and every medicine or supplement you take. Do not stop prescribed medicine unless the prescriber specifically advises it. Arrive with clean skin and postpone treatment if the planned area is infected or inflamed.

Follow the clinic's product-specific instructions. Common practical measures include gentle cleansing, clean hands, avoiding rubbing or picking at injection points, using broad-spectrum sun protection, and pausing irritating acids or retinoids until the skin is comfortable. Avoid applying unapproved products over broken skin.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain, warmth, redness, or swelling is worsening rather than settling, or if you develop pus, fever, spreading discoloration, persistent lumps, blistering, or an unusual rash. Sudden severe pain, pale or dusky skin, visual disturbance, facial weakness, breathing difficulty, or swelling of the lips or tongue needs urgent medical assessment.

Ask for the product name and full ingredient list, why it suits your concern, who will perform the injections, and how complications are managed. Also ask when to restart your usual skincare, what changes would be realistic, and whether an alternative such as a skin booster better matches your goal.
