Aubagio is the brand name for teriflunomide. A rash may have another cause, but the prescribing clinician must assess its timing, appearance, spread, and accompanying symptoms. Do not take another dose while waiting for emergency help when blistering, peeling, mouth sores, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty is present.

A medication reaction can appear as widespread red or darker patches, small raised bumps, hives, itching, or skin tenderness. Serious reactions may involve the lips, mouth, eyes, or genitals and can occur with fever, swollen glands, facial swelling, or a generally unwell feeling.

Not every eruption during treatment is caused by Aubagio. Contact with a new product, infection, heat, and an existing inflammatory skin condition can look similar. The direction of assessment matters: drug eruptions commonly present with a rash, but a rash alone does not prove that the medicine caused it.

Contact the clinician who prescribes Aubagio on the same day for a new unexplained rash. Describe when it began, where it started, whether it is spreading, and whether you have itching, pain, fever, mouth symptoms, swelling, or breathing changes. Send photographs if the service requests them.

Keep a list of all prescription medicines, non-prescription products, supplements, and recent dose changes. Do not restart Aubagio after a suspected serious reaction unless the treating specialist explicitly directs you. Teriflunomide remains in the body for a prolonged period, so clinicians may use a specific elimination procedure when medically necessary.

Get emergency help for trouble breathing or swallowing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, eyes, or throat; faintness; rapidly spreading hives; skin pain; blisters; peeling; raw areas; or sores affecting the mouth, eyes, or genitals.

Urgent assessment is also needed when a rash occurs with fever, swollen glands, facial swelling, unusual bruising, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, or severe weakness. These combinations can signal a reaction affecting more than the skin and should not wait for a routine appointment.

Ask whether you should hold the next dose, whether you need an in-person skin examination or blood tests, and which symptoms require emergency care. Clarify whether a rapid elimination procedure is appropriate, how the reaction will be documented, and what alternative multiple-sclerosis treatment will be considered if Aubagio cannot be resumed.
