Mesotherapy describes an injection technique rather than one medicine. A preparation may contain a botanical extract alone or be mixed with other substances, and each component can change the expected effect, allergy potential and aftercare. The injection depth, body site, sterility and practitioner's training also influence safety.

Tenderness, small bumps, bruising, redness or swelling can follow needle injections. These reactions should be distinguished from spreading inflammation, tissue injury or allergy. Skin boosters are a separate category and should not be assumed to contain the same ingredients or serve the same purpose.

Choose a licensed medical setting that can name the injected product, explain whether its intended use matches the proposed treatment and manage an adverse reaction. Disclose allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, immune problems, bleeding disorders, active skin infection and all medicines or supplements. Do not stop prescribed medication unless the prescriber advises it.

Keep injection sites clean and follow the clinician's instructions about cosmetics, exercise, heat and massage. Do not squeeze lumps or apply unapproved remedies. Record the product and treatment date so another clinician can identify the exposure if symptoms develop.

Contact the treating clinician promptly for increasing pain, spreading redness, marked warmth, pus, blistering, skin darkening, an open sore, fever or a lump that is enlarging rather than settling. Call emergency services for breathing difficulty, throat tightness, widespread hives, facial swelling, severe dizziness or collapse.

Ask for the brand, manufacturer, full ingredients, intended treatment site and reason each ingredient is being used. Clarify who will inject it, how sterility is maintained, what result would count as meaningful, which effects are temporary, and whom to contact outside clinic hours if a reaction occurs.
