Amber mesotherapy: what to check before treatment

The label alone does not tell you what will be injected or whether it is appropriate for your concern. Request the product name, ingredient list, manufacturer information and a clear explanation of the intended result before consenting.

Mesotherapy generally describes multiple small injections placed into superficial skin. Clinics may use the term for different formulations, so it should not be treated as one standard medicine. Depending on the actual formulation and technique, the goal may be improved hydration, texture or overall skin appearance. It does not replace diagnosis and treatment of an unexplained rash, changing lesion or active infection.

Choose a licensed clinician who examines the skin and discusses realistic outcomes. Share allergies, prior reactions, medicines and supplements, bleeding problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding, immune conditions, cold sores, and any tendency to form raised scars. Do not stop prescribed medicine unless the prescriber advises it.

Small bumps, tenderness, redness or bruising can follow needle entry. Follow the clinic's written aftercare, keep the area clean, avoid picking or massaging unless specifically instructed, and delay irritating skincare until the skin has settled. Ask whom to contact outside clinic hours if recovery differs from the plan.

Contact the treating clinician promptly for increasing pain, warmth, spreading redness, pus, fever, persistent lumps, blistering or a colour change in the treated skin. Seek urgent medical help for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or tongue, faintness, severe eye pain, altered vision, or rapidly whitening or mottled skin. These symptoms need assessment rather than routine aftercare.

Ask exactly what substance and amount will be injected, where it will be placed, who will perform the procedure, and what training they have. Also clarify whether the product is authorised for the proposed use, what improvement is realistic, which alternatives fit your concern, how adverse events are managed, and whether a skin booster would differ in composition or purpose.
