The clinician places fine insulated needles at planned depths and delivers controlled heat to a defined area. Depending on the handpiece and treatment plan, the aim may be to reduce small pockets of submental fat and encourage tissue contraction. It is a procedure, not a general weight-loss method.

Fullness beneath the chin can reflect superficial fat, loose skin, deeper neck anatomy, jaw projection, muscle position, or a combination. Tenderness, swelling, bruising, small crusts, firmness, or temporary altered sensation may follow treatment. Use the aftercare supplied by the treating clinic, keep entry points clean, avoid picking, and protect healing skin from strong sun. Contact the treating clinic promptly for increasing redness, warmth, drainage, severe or escalating pain, blistering, skin colour turning dusky, worsening asymmetry, or numbness that is spreading rather than settling. Seek urgent care for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapidly enlarging neck swelling, or new marked weakness of the lower face.

Ask which anatomical layer is creating your profile, what tissue the device would target, who will perform the needling, and how nerve and skin injury are avoided. Request a clear explanation of expected change, likely recovery, alternative options, follow-up, and the plan if firmness or unevenness develops.
