The device delivers carbon dioxide laser energy in a patterned treatment. Controlled columns of heat remove surface tissue and trigger a wound-healing response, while untreated spaces between the columns help the skin repair.

A clinician adjusts energy, density, and treatment pattern for the concern and skin area. Deeper or denser settings can create more swelling, crusting, and recovery time. CO2 treatment also carries a risk of pigment change, especially in skin that readily develops dark marks after inflammation.

Before treatment, disclose medicines, recent tanning, cold sores, tendency to form raised scars, and any previous pigment problems. Follow the clinic's instructions about skin products and prescribed preventive medicine.

Afterward, cleanse and moisturise exactly as directed, avoid picking flakes or crusts, and protect healing skin from sun and heat. Use only products approved by the treating clinician until the barrier has recovered. Arrange downtime because redness, tenderness, swelling, and weeping can temporarily affect normal routines.

Contact the treating clinic promptly if pain is worsening rather than settling, redness spreads beyond the treated area, blisters or pus appear, or you develop fever. New grouped blisters around the mouth may signal a cold-sore flare and deserve early assessment.

Seek urgent care for facial swelling with breathing difficulty, eye pain, or a sudden change in vision. These are not expected recovery effects.
