What should you know about a mobile colposcope?

The device does not diagnose cancer by itself. During colposcopy, the clinician examines the cervix after applying solutions that can make unusual areas easier to see. Images may help document findings and support discussion with you.

If an area looks unusual, a small biopsy may be taken. The sample is examined separately. A mobile setup can make cervical assessment possible in different clinical settings, but the quality of care depends on trained staff, suitable equipment and a clear follow-up plan.

Before the appointment, tell the clinic if you are pregnant, have unusual bleeding, or use medicines that affect bleeding. During the examination, you lie on an examination couch while a speculum separates the vaginal walls; the colposcope stays outside the body.

Contact the clinic if bleeding after a biopsy becomes heavy, pain is severe or increasing, or you develop fever, foul-smelling discharge or feel unwell. Keep the follow-up appointment even if you feel normal, because cervical changes may cause no symptoms.
