Suspected milia on the inner thighs should be protected from rubbing and assessed before any attempt at extraction.

Understanding a bump in this area
Milia are small keratin cysts beneath the skin surface. On the inner thighs, heat, sweat, close clothing, shaving, and skin-to-skin friction can irritate nearby skin and make a small pale bump more noticeable. The area can also develop ingrown hairs, folliculitis, blocked sweat ducts, or inflamed cysts, which may look different on close examination.
A milium is generally a discrete, firm bump. Tenderness, warmth, pus, clusters around hair follicles, or a rash between bumps point toward irritation or another condition rather than providing proof of milia.
Reduce irritation safely
Keep the fold dry after bathing, wear breathable clothing, and pause shaving or waxing over the area if the skin is irritated. Choose a gentle cleanser and a simple moisturiser for chafed surrounding skin. Do not squeeze, lance, or scrub the bump; broken skin in a high-friction area can become more inflamed.
A dermatologist can confirm the cause and, if appropriate, remove a milium with sterile instruments. Curettage and cautery may be considered for selected lesions. Topical retinoids may irritate thin or rubbed skin, so a clinician should decide whether they belong in the plan.
When to get checked
Arrange an appointment for a persistent, recurrent, painful, itchy, or changing bump, particularly if it is attached to a hair follicle or surrounded by a rash. Seek prompt care for spreading redness, warmth, drainage, fever, or rapidly increasing pain, as these features need assessment for infection or inflammation.
Questions for your appointment
Ask whether friction, hair removal, or a product is contributing, how the clinician distinguishes milia from follicle-related bumps, and which treatment is least irritating for the inner thigh. Ask when normal shaving or exercise can resume after any procedure.

Questions people ask
Are all inner-thigh white bumps milia?
No. Ingrown hairs, folliculitis, irritation, and other lesions can look pale or raised in this area.
Can friction make the area worse?
Yes. Skin-to-skin rubbing and tight clothing can increase irritation around an existing bump.
