Dengue fever time period explained

The dengue fever time period includes an incubation stage, a few days of fever, and a recovery period that may extend beyond the fever. Symptoms can include fever, headache, chills, muscle aches, joint pain, nausea, or rash. The timing differs between people, so the date of mosquito exposure cannot predict the course precisely.

Before symptoms, a person may feel well despite infection. During the fever stage, fluid intake and clinical observation are useful. When fever settles, watch carefully for abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding, marked sleepiness, or breathing problems. Recovery is often gradual; appetite, energy, and concentration may take additional time to return.

Write down the first day of fever, temperature readings, fluid intake, urine output, and any new symptom. Rest and drink small amounts frequently.
