What Does Workplace Ergonomic Assessment Treat?

Short answer
Workplace ergonomic assessment treats work-related strain by identifying changes that can reduce aggravating posture, force, repetition, or workstation setup.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What is assessed
An assessor may review your chair, desk, screen height, keyboard, mouse, lighting, lifting technique, and the way tasks are shared across the day. The review can help people with repetitive strain injury, text neck, neck pain, or upper-back pain when work habits add to symptoms. It does not diagnose every source of pain, and symptoms that continue away from work may need a separate clinical examination.
Changes that may help
Keep the screen near eye level, support the forearms when practical, and vary sitting, standing, reaching, and keyboard tasks. Short movement breaks can interrupt long periods in one position. Follow the assessor's recommendations gradually and record which tasks increase symptoms. Physiotherapy may add exercises for mobility, strength, and tolerance.
When assessment is not enough
Seek clinical advice if pain persists despite workstation changes, spreads into an arm, or comes with tingling, numbness, weakness, balance problems, or loss of hand control. Urgent care is needed for severe pain after injury, new bladder or bowel problems, or sudden weakness with speech or facial changes.
Questions to ask
Which work task is most likely to aggravate my symptoms? What adjustment should I try first? Do I need a physiotherapy assessment, exercises, or a medical review alongside the workplace changes?

Questions people ask
Can an ergonomic assessment diagnose neck pain?
It can identify workplace factors that may aggravate symptoms, but diagnosis may require a separate examination by a healthcare professional.
Do ergonomic changes replace physiotherapy?
Not always. Equipment and task changes address the work environment, while physiotherapy can address movement, strength, and recovery.
