What should you know about Symbicort for asthma?

Asthma involves sensitive, inflamed airways that can narrow and make breathing difficult. Symbicort contains budesonide, which reduces airway inflammation, and formoterol, which relaxes airway muscle. Depending on the plan, it may be used regularly, in a plan that also uses it for symptom relief, or in another prescribed pattern. It is not appropriate to change the dose or frequency based only on how you feel on one day.

Use the inhaler exactly as prescribed and ask for a technique check if the medicine seems ineffective. Breathe in through the device as instructed, keep track of how often you need symptom relief, and rinse your mouth after a prescribed inhaled corticosteroid dose to reduce local irritation. Keep the inhaler available according to your clinician’s instructions and do not stop a regular controller suddenly without advice.
