What should you know about sonographic features of adenomyosis?

A sonographer or radiologist may describe an enlarged or rounded uterus, an uneven thickness between the front and back muscle walls, or a varied appearance of the uterine muscle. Small fluid-filled spaces, fan-shaped shadowing, or tiny bright areas can also support the impression. No single feature proves adenomyosis.

A scan finding matters alongside symptoms such as Heavy Periods, Painful Periods, or Pelvic Pain. Fibroids and other uterine conditions can overlap with these appearances, so the report should be discussed in context rather than read as a diagnosis in isolation.

Ask for the written report and note whether the scan was abdominal or internal, what the uterus and ovaries showed, and whether another cause was considered. Keep a record of bleeding, cramps, pelvic pressure, and how symptoms affect daily activities. This gives your clinician a clearer basis for planning care.

Treatment depends on bleeding, pain, fertility plans, age, and personal preferences.
