Rosacea and corticosteroids: what to know

Corticosteroid creams reduce inflammation in some skin conditions, but facial rosacea may become more reactive during or after their use. Stopping a prescribed steroid abruptly can also be uncomfortable, so discuss the product, strength, duration, and tapering plan with the prescriber. Rosacea may involve persistent flushing, visible redness, pimple-like bumps, or a hot, stinging feeling; these features do not automatically identify the cause of a rash.
