Rosacea bugs: what the sensation may mean

Rosacea can make skin feel prickly, hot, itchy or as if something is moving across it. Dryness, an irritated skin barrier, contact dermatitis and some nerve-related sensations can feel similar. Rosacea presents with facial inflammation and sensitivity; the sensation itself does not identify its cause. Note whether it follows heat, skincare, sweating or a flare.

Pause new products, wash gently with lukewarm water and apply a bland moisturiser. Avoid scratching, exfoliating or using insect treatments on facial skin without a diagnosis.
