Remedy for hair loss after giving birth

After childbirth, changes in the hair-growth cycle can cause increased shedding. This pattern is commonly called telogen effluvium. It may become noticeable when washing or brushing, while the scalp can look normal. Hair loss can also reflect low iron or thyroid problems, a scalp condition, or female pattern hair loss, so the timing alone does not establish one diagnosis.

Use a wide-tooth comb, avoid tight braids and extensions, and reduce heat and chemical processing while shedding is active. Eat regular meals with protein and varied nutrients; do not start high-dose supplements without medical advice. A clinician can examine the scalp and decide whether blood tests or treatment are appropriate.

Arrange an assessment if shedding is marked, continues without improvement, forms smooth patches, or comes with scalp scale, pain, redness, fatigue, or other symptoms. Seek prompt care for sudden extensive loss or signs of infection.
