The phrase can refer to injections into the scalp, or to treatment discussed for pain around the head and neck. These are not interchangeable uses. The clinician should name the exact area, explain the intended benefit, and check whether PRP is appropriate for the problem being treated.

Platelet-rich plasma is made by taking a small blood sample and processing it so the plasma contains a higher concentration of platelets than ordinary blood. A clinician then places it with a needle in the planned area. The preparation method, injection depth, number of sessions, and aftercare depend on the condition and the clinician's protocol.

PRP is not a universal treatment for every headache, scalp concern, or musculoskeletal symptom. A diagnosis matters because pain can arise from nerves, joints, muscles, skin, infection, or other causes that need different care.
