What should you know about one level acdf?

ACDF stands for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. Through an approach at the front of the neck, the surgeon removes the disc and any material pressing on nearby nerves or the spinal cord. A spacer such as a PEEK Spinal Cage may sit between the vertebrae, and a Plate and Screws may help hold the level while bone healing develops. The operation may be considered for Cervical Radiculopathy or Cervical Spondylosis when symptoms and examination findings support it.

Before surgery, provide a complete medicine list and mention swallowing problems, nicotine use, and previous neck operations. Afterward, follow the surgeon's instructions for wound care, walking, lifting, driving, and neck movement. A sore throat or swallowing discomfort can occur early after the front-of-neck approach. Contact the surgical team if swallowing worsens, the wound changes, arm weakness increases, or pain is not controlled as expected. Physiotherapy may be introduced at a suitable stage.
