A cheek milia is usually a smooth, round, white or flesh-toned bump that feels firm when touched. It develops when keratin becomes trapped under the outer layer of skin. Unlike an inflamed spot, it commonly has little surrounding redness or tenderness.

Cheek bumps can have several causes, including acne, irritation, or other cysts. Because appearance alone can mislead, a dermatologist can confirm the diagnosis, particularly when bumps are clustered, persistent, or changing.

Wash with a mild cleanser and avoid abrasive scrubs, sharp tools, and repeated squeezing. Friction from exfoliating products or facial devices may leave irritation or dark marks without opening the cyst.
