What should you know about IPL treatment for rosacea?

Short answer
IPL treatment for rosacea may lessen persistent redness and visible vessels, but it should follow a diagnosis, a review of triggers, and an individual skin assessment.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What IPL can and cannot address
Rosacea can cause flushing, persistent facial redness, visible small vessels, warmth, burning, sensitivity, and sometimes acne-like pimples. IPL uses light absorbed by blood vessels and may improve the appearance of redness for selected skin types. It does not cure rosacea or prevent every flare. Treatment choice depends on whether redness, vessels, bumps, eye symptoms, or another condition is the main concern. A clinician may also discuss Pulsed Dye Laser Treatment or Azelaic Acid Treatment.
Preparing for treatment
Record triggers such as heat, sunlight, alcohol, spicy foods, stress, or irritating products, and tell the clinician about medicines, tanning, cold-sore history, and previous pigment changes. Use a gentle routine and the recommended sunscreen. Follow instructions about pausing irritating skincare. After IPL, expect temporary warmth or redness and use only the advised products; avoid heat, friction, picking, and unprotected sun while the skin settles.
When to seek medical advice
Arrange review if redness is new, one-sided, rapidly worsening, or accompanied by unusual swelling, severe pain, or a rash outside the treated area. Seek eye care for eye pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, or a gritty eye with rosacea symptoms. After treatment, contact the clinic for worsening pain, blistering, open skin, drainage, or swelling that interferes with vision.
Questions for your doctor
Is my redness consistent with rosacea, and is IPL appropriate for my skin tone? Which symptoms will IPL address? What should I do with my current skincare or medicines? How will flares and eye symptoms be managed alongside treatment?
