What should you know about influenza A H3 treatment?

Influenza A H3 describes an influenza A virus subtype. A clinician considers symptom severity, time since symptoms began, age, pregnancy, immune status and long-term conditions when deciding whether antiviral medicine may help. Antibiotics do not treat influenza viruses, although they may be considered if a bacterial complication is suspected.

Fever, chills, cough, headache, fatigue and feeling generally unwell can occur. A cough or fever does not identify the subtype by itself; testing may be used when the result would change care.
