I think I have asthma

Asthma involves sensitive, narrowed airways. Symptoms may appear after exercise, at night, during a cold or around smoke, dust, pollen or animals. They can vary over time. Allergic Rhinitis and House Dust Mite Allergy may occur alongside airway symptoms, while Chronic Cough has other possible causes.

A clinician may ask about triggers, family history, eczema or allergies and listen to your chest. Breathing tests can help compare how your airways work at different times.

Arrange a GP appointment and describe when symptoms occur, what triggers them and whether they disturb sleep or activity. Avoid smoke and known irritants. Do not borrow another person's inhaler or change prescribed medicines without advice.

If symptoms become difficult to control, urgent care may include Nebuliser Treatment, depending on the clinical assessment.

Seek emergency help if you are struggling to speak, breathing is rapidly worsening, your lips look blue or you feel faint or confused. Get prompt medical advice for a first episode of wheezing or breathlessness, or symptoms that keep returning.
