Home remedies for milia in adults

Short answer
For milia in adults, use gentle cleansing, non-comedogenic moisturiser, and daily sun protection, but do not squeeze or pierce the bumps; persistent lesions can be assessed for safe removal.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- Do
- Cleanse gently and choose non-comedogenic products.
- Do not
- Squeeze, pierce, or scrape the bumps at home.
What milia are
Milia are small, firm, usually pale or white cysts formed from trapped keratin beneath the surface of the skin. They commonly appear around the eyes, cheeks, or other facial areas. They are different from Whiteheads, although both can look like small white bumps. A new or changing Skin Bumps pattern should be checked if the diagnosis is uncertain.
Care at home
Cleanse gently without scrubbing, rough cloths, or abrasive powders. Choose light, non-comedogenic products and avoid thick ointments or eye creams that seem to coincide with new bumps. Protect exposed skin from sun and do not pick, squeeze, lance, or use home extraction tools; these can cause bleeding, infection, or lasting marks. A dermatologist may discuss Topical Retinoids for selected cases, but delicate areas such as the eyelids need particular advice.
When to arrange an examination
Seek assessment if bumps are painful, inflamed, rapidly changing, bleeding, clustered unusually, or close to the eye and affecting vision. Arrange a consultation when milia persist and bother you cosmetically or when home care has not helped. Professional Curettage And Cautery may remove selected lesions; the method should be chosen after confirming what the bumps are.
Questions for your doctor
Ask whether the bumps are milia, whether a product may be contributing, which areas can safely receive treatment, and how to reduce the chance of irritation or marks after removal.

Questions people ask
Can milia be removed with a home needle?
No. Piercing at home can injure delicate skin and introduce infection; professional removal is safer after diagnosis.
Are milia the same as whiteheads?
No. They can look similar, but milia are keratin-filled cysts rather than typical clogged pores.
