What should you know about fractional laser around eyes?

The skin around the eyes is thin and moves constantly. A fractional device treats a pattern of small columns rather than the entire surface, which can support a more controlled recovery than fully ablative resurfacing. Treatment may be discussed for fine lines, uneven texture or selected scars, but eyelid position, eye dryness, pigment response and the exact distance from the eye all affect the plan. Temporary redness, swelling and sensitivity are possible.

Tell the clinician about contact lenses, dry eye, glaucoma, recent eye procedures, cold sores, eczema, medicines and previous pigment changes. Remove eye makeup and follow instructions about sun exposure and irritating skincare. Confirm what eye shields will be used and whether the lower lid, upper lid or surrounding skin is included. Afterward, keep hands away from the area, use only approved products, avoid rubbing and protect healing skin from sunlight. Fractional laser is also used in selected Acne Scar Laser Treatment plans.

Report increasing pain, pus, fever, severe swelling, blistering or redness that spreads beyond the treated area. Get urgent eye assessment for blurred vision, reduced vision, severe eye pain, new light sensitivity, a foreign-body sensation that persists or trouble opening the eye.

Ask what concern is being treated, how close the laser will come to the eye, what protection is required, which symptoms are expected, and when normal skincare and makeup can resume.
