Food to stop hair fall and grow new hair

Short answer
No food can reliably stop every type of hair fall or guarantee new growth, but balanced nutrition supports follicles and correction of deficiency may help.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.
At a glance
- Diet goal
- Regular, varied meals with enough protein and energy.
- Regrowth claim
- Food cannot guarantee new hair growth.
- Useful evidence
- The timing and pattern of shedding.
Why causes matter
Hair responds to the whole body, not to a single ingredient. Severe restriction, low protein intake, or a diagnosed deficiency can disturb the growth cycle. Other patterns need different care: Telogen Effluvium may follow a physical or emotional stressor, while Male Pattern Hair Loss and Female Pattern Hair Loss are influenced by follicle sensitivity. Alopecia Areata, Scalp Ringworm, and Traction Alopecia also cannot be treated by food alone.
New growth depends on the underlying cause and whether follicles remain active. A changing part, smooth patch, scale, or broken hairs gives more useful information than the number of hairs seen on a brush.
Support healthy growth
Choose regular meals containing protein, iron-containing foods, beans or lentils, whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruit, and vegetables. Avoid crash dieting and tell a clinician about vegan or highly restricted eating. Do not take multiple hair products together without checking ingredients; excess supplementation can create problems. Photograph the part and affected areas in consistent lighting so changes can be discussed accurately.
When to seek assessment
Book a review for sudden shedding, a bald patch, progressive thinning, scalp itch or scale, or hair loss with fatigue, weight change, or menstrual changes. Prompt treatment matters when infection or ongoing traction is possible. A clinician can examine the scalp and decide whether blood tests or targeted treatment are needed.
Questions for your doctor
Ask what type of hair loss you have, whether diet is contributing, which tests are useful, and which proven treatment options should be considered alongside nutrition.

Questions people ask
Will eating more eggs or nuts regrow hair?
They can provide useful nutrients, but regrowth depends on the cause of hair loss rather than one food.
Should I take hair vitamins immediately?
Not automatically. A clinician can identify a deficiency and help avoid unnecessary or excessive supplementation.
