What should you know about constant sensitivity to light?

Short answer
Constant sensitivity to light can come from migraine, an eye problem, medication, or a neurological illness, and persistent or worsening symptoms need medical assessment.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What it can mean
Light sensitivity, also called photophobia, may occur with Migraine, often alongside headache, nausea, or visual changes. Conjunctivitis can cause light discomfort with red, watery, gritty, or sticky eyes. Dry or irritated eyes, contact lens problems, and some medicines can also increase sensitivity. Meningitis is a less common but serious possibility when light sensitivity occurs with severe headache, fever, stiff neck, confusion, or a rapidly worsening illness.
What to do now
Arrange an eye or medical review if sensitivity is new, constant, affecting daily life, or accompanied by pain or visual change. Record whether one or both eyes are affected, when symptoms began, and any headache, redness, discharge, fever, injury, or new medicine. Use comfortable dim lighting and sunglasses outdoors, but do not cover a painful eye for long periods or continue wearing contact lenses when the eye is irritated. Do not drive if vision is blurred or pain makes it unsafe.
When to seek care
Seek emergency help for light sensitivity with a severe or sudden headache, fever, stiff neck, confusion, fainting, a new weakness, or a rash. Get urgent eye care for sudden vision loss, intense eye pain, an injury, a chemical splash, marked redness, or halos around lights. Prompt assessment is also needed if symptoms are rapidly worsening or occur in a person who is very unwell.
Questions for your doctor
Could this pattern fit migraine or an eye condition? Do I need an eye examination or another assessment? Which warning signs should make me seek emergency care, and should I pause contact lens use or a new medicine?
