Tell the oncology team about new or changing bone pain, difficulty walking, reduced grip, or pain after a minor injury. Follow advice about safe movement and lifting until vulnerable areas are assessed. Take prescribed medicines as directed and discuss dental care before starting bone-strengthening therapy. A plan may involve imaging to clarify the location and stability of affected bones.

Seek emergency help for sudden severe back or neck pain, new limb weakness, numbness, loss of bladder or bowel control, inability to stand, or a suspected fracture. These symptoms can signal pressure on the spinal cord or an unstable bone. Urgent advice is also needed for confusion, marked thirst, vomiting, or severe constipation, which can occur with high calcium.
