Whooping cough mixtures and treatment

A pharmacy cough mixture is designed to ease certain cough symptoms, not to clear the Bordetella pertussis infection that causes whooping cough. Ingredients and suitability vary, and some mixtures are unsuitable for children or may interact with other medicines. Whooping cough commonly presents with repeated cough bursts that can end in gagging or vomiting.
