When should you worry about excessive sweating if you have hyperthyroidism?

An overactive thyroid increases the body's metabolic activity and can make you feel unusually warm. Sweating may occur during the day or at night, with heat intolerance, tremor, anxiety, weight loss, loose stools, or a fast pulse. Sweating alone does not establish the cause, so a clinician may review your symptoms, medicines, pulse, and thyroid blood tests.

Arrange a medical review if the pattern is persistent or interferes with sleep, work, hydration, or daily activities. Keep a brief record of when sweating happens, your other symptoms, and any thyroid treatment doses. Drink fluids, choose breathable clothing, and avoid changing prescribed medicine without advice.

Get urgent help for chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting, marked confusion, or a very fast or irregular heartbeat. Prompt assessment is also sensible when sweating comes with fever, severe weakness, repeated vomiting, or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Ask whether your thyroid levels and treatment need review, whether another medicine could be contributing, and which pulse or symptom changes should trigger urgent help.
