What is fractional laser used for?

The device delivers laser energy in a pattern of tiny columns rather than treating the entire surface at once. The treated columns trigger controlled skin repair, while nearby untreated skin helps support recovery. Different fractional lasers reach different depths and may be chosen for resurfacing, texture, scars, or pigment concerns.

A fractional laser can soften the appearance of atrophic acne scars and improve rough texture, but it cannot erase every scar or stop new acne from forming. Skin type, scar depth, active inflammation, and the selected settings affect the plan and the healing period.

During consultation, disclose recent tanning, cold sores, active acne, eczema, medicines, and a history of dark marks after skin injury. The clinician may adjust the treatment or postpone it when the skin barrier is irritated or infection is present.

After treatment, use the recommended gentle cleanser, moisturiser, and sun protection. Expect redness, warmth, dryness, or peeling according to the intensity used. Avoid picking the skin and follow instructions about makeup, exercise, heat, and active skincare ingredients.

Call the clinic if pain, swelling, redness, blistering, or drainage is increasing, or if the treated skin develops spreading crusts. Urgent assessment is needed for breathing difficulty, marked facial swelling, or eye pain or vision changes after treatment.
