What it means
A lymph node in the neck, armpit or groin may enlarge without tenderness. Chest involvement can cause cough or breathlessness, while general symptoms include fever, soaking night sweats, reduced appetite and tiredness. Infections and other conditions can cause the same signs.

See a clinician if a lump persists, grows or feels hard, especially with fever, night sweats, weight loss or worsening fatigue. Assessment may include examination, blood tests, imaging and, when needed, a biopsy. Bring symptom timing, medicines and recent infection details.
When to seek care
Seek urgent help for severe or worsening breathlessness, chest pressure, fainting, confusion, inability to swallow or high fever with marked illness. A rapidly enlarging neck swelling can affect breathing or swallowing. Urgency comes from severity, not an assumption of lymphoma.
