What are the symptoms of brain tumour?

A brain tumour can affect different functions depending on where it is located and how it affects surrounding tissue. Possible changes include a headache that persists or changes, nausea or vomiting, a first seizure, weakness or numbness, difficulty walking, loss of coordination, altered speech, vision changes, or problems with concentration and memory. Some people notice personality or behaviour changes. These symptoms can also arise from migraine, infection, medication effects, stroke, or other conditions. Their presence does not confirm a brain tumour, and their absence does not rule one out.

Arrange medical review for a new, persistent, or progressively worsening neurological symptom. The clinician may examine your nerves, strength, coordination, and vision, then arrange an MRI Scan or other tests. If a tumour is identified, care may involve observation, Brain Tumour Surgery, Radiotherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, or Chemotherapy depending on its type, position, size, and overall health.

Seek emergency help for a first seizure, sudden weakness or loss of speech, sudden vision change, severe confusion, collapse, repeated vomiting, or a rapidly worsening headache. During a seizure, move hazards away, do not restrain the person, and do not place anything in their mouth.
